Toreros Stay Perfect with Rout of UCSD

The conditions were cold and rainy on Manchester Field on March 4th, with swirling winds also present during the match. USD punched in their first try 5 minutes into the game and never looked back. The Tritons attempted to hold back the onslaught of the Toreros but the USD squad was dominant. Michael Ramos and Shane Jamison both contributed hat tricks while USD ran out to score 15 total tries. Michael Lewis was locked in from the tee as he went 10-13 on conversions. The match was abandoned in the 65th minute due to the lopsided scoreline. USD will now have a couple of weeks off for spring break before hosting Norco College and LMU on March 18th.

Director of Kevin Eaton on the win: “Nobody really benefits from a lopsided scoreline like that. Fair play to the boys from UCSD for sticking it out for as long as they did. We are pleased to have emerged from the match healthy and now look forward to the second half of the league season.”

Charlie Purdon on the man of the match: “Tough to pull a standout when there were so many big individual performances on the day. We have selected Micky O’Leary as our man of the match. He did very well at scrum half to direct the match in difficult conditions. He is one of the hardest workers on the team and has earned the honor.”
